Dear community I truly believe in a different, more interdependent approach to being and seeking social justice. What if we accepted ourselves as incredible human beings, capable of love, rather than judging our worth by our performance and outputs? I believe that could change how we show up, and perhaps even help change the world. Deep in my bones, I feel this begins with identity. When we reflect on who we are, together, we can become a powerful source of change and healing. And with everything, as my son reminds me, we have to have a little bit of play and humour too in the process too! 😁 I’m not saying Rise in Our Roots will heal everything... But...I have seen the approaches create movement: towards courage, acceptance and action rooted in a deeper sense of our own and collective identity. So, what if we slowed down together about who we are? Come join on the 24th September, and if you can't here's the simple yet really affective tools I know shift us as individuals and a collective. https://zerowastetickets.com/event/riseinourroots In case you can't join, here are the approaches we want to showcase. I know they provide us with a shift in our bodies, mind and emotions, which frees up space for courage and connection. Email anytime to know more about them. A somatic exercise covering...how has the past supported our current state, before supporting the generations to come, rooted in being part of nature. Reflecting how we are connected with spirit, mind, body and emotions, where we are strongest, where we might bypass? What have we forgotten from previous generations? And our internal dialogue, the monster within (which isn't really a monster..) Are they our worries/fears or have we inherited them? And by showing compassion and love for these internal dialogues, what might change? (Perhaps a long vacation on a cruise ship for the monster-within) Interconnectedness of who we are, and each circle being like water, without a true shape and ever changing Music And a song. Love to move to this as feels like a chapter of music, not just a song

Dear community Gosh, what a week it’s been! I feel privileged to be around people who are holding big problems but also holding bandwidth to look at big themes too. Here's some themes coming out. Send me an emoji which section resonates. 🤖❤️🩹😁 Power and responsibility 🤖 When we have a homogeneous team, there are going to be blind spots. This could be class, colour, schooling or less obvious. If you ignore that you have a homogeneous team, it will bite you on the a** sometime. Are we afraid to...
Dear men of the community I sometimes forget that others see me as a man. I’m often more aware of my femininity, my colour and my neurospicyness. But I am seen as a man, and I need to pay attention to what comes with that. This week, a dear friend sent me the image below. Please download it. 🔽🔽🔽 Some of its words stopped me. It reminded me that, however I understand myself, I have a responsibility to face the harm men cause. I have caused harm. I have used male entitlement, sometimes without...
Dear community I’ve been sitting with Lara Sheehi’s phrase psychic militancy. It has hit my heart hard and rocked how I think about my “career” (loose career!). As I understand Sheehi, it is a practice of noticing how power shapes our thoughts, and refusing to let it decide what futures are possible. The question underneath it feels familiar: What happens when systems of oppression start to live inside the way I think? How much have I lived true to my vision of an anti-oppressive future? How...
