Dear amazing community, Thank you for some amazing conversations this week. We covered loneliness, parenting, overwhelm, demotivation, and the tension between doing all the things and remaining purpose-driven. Like you, I sometimes find myself in a fog, unable to see exactly where the path leads. Then something lifts it. A conversation. Something I read. A moment when I’m reminded that I am exactly where I’m meant to be. Here are some questions I’m sitting with this Sunday as I write my to-do list. Yes, I know you’re doing the same, you workaholics. 🤣 I want to get ahead of the demotivation and overwhelm that can creep in during the week. So many parts of our lives feel uncertain. Demotivation and overwhelm can arrive in waves, and sometimes they can feel constant. We can’t control all the uncertainty around us. But we may have more agency within it than we realise. The questions.. What’s most important to me this week?
What’s the social justice reason these things matter? What might play look like among all the adulting? What’s a struggle I don’t currently have an answer to, and can I let that be okay? In a nutshell: My focus: at work is honing the sessions I’m running. Outside work, I want to focus on my body’s health. Why? I want to bring as much decolonial thinking as I can into everything I do. Over the next four weeks, I’m going to explore weekly: the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Play: dancing on Wednesday! 💃🏾 I'm also wondering if I can hug someone every day (with consent!). The struggle: I’m searching for a collective “aha” moment, when a social movement captures and awakens the popular imagination. I can think of many individual moments, but not yet the collective one I’m looking for. And instead of being frustrated, I give myself compassion. Answers in an email if you have found one? And now, some invitations: 🌱 Rise in Our Roots London | 24 September Come and reconnect with your energy, motivation and agency, while putting away some of the worries we have inherited. https://zerowastetickets.com/event/riseinourroots ❤️🩹 Men’s Circle | Sign up before 1 October We aren’t always great at forming deep friendships. In social impact, many of our relationships can become based on work, purpose or exchange, leaving us feeling more isolated than we admit. Feeling that too? Come on men, be honest :) https://menscircle.carrd.co/ 💫 Grief Tending for Health Practitioners | 10 & 11 Oct Whenever I release grief in community, loving action follows. DM me for how this beautiful process works. https://zerowastetickets.com/event/grief-tending-for-hcps ➡️ Who do you know? I would adore bringing some of Rise in Our Roots energy to teams and communities. Who do you know who might benefit? https://riseinourroots.carrd.co/ Email me if you have an idea of how that might happen. Music: And a song. I would adore a dance remix of this. Has anyone heard one? 🎶

Dear community Gosh, what a week it’s been! I feel privileged to be around people who are holding big problems but also holding bandwidth to look at big themes too. Here's some themes coming out. Send me an emoji which section resonates. 🤖❤️🩹😁 Power and responsibility 🤖 When we have a homogeneous team, there are going to be blind spots. This could be class, colour, schooling or less obvious. If you ignore that you have a homogeneous team, it will bite you on the a** sometime. Are we afraid to...
Dear men of the community I sometimes forget that others see me as a man. I’m often more aware of my femininity, my colour and my neurospicyness. But I am seen as a man, and I need to pay attention to what comes with that. This week, a dear friend sent me the image below. Please download it. 🔽🔽🔽 Some of its words stopped me. It reminded me that, however I understand myself, I have a responsibility to face the harm men cause. I have caused harm. I have used male entitlement, sometimes without...
Dear community I’ve been sitting with Lara Sheehi’s phrase psychic militancy. It has hit my heart hard and rocked how I think about my “career” (loose career!). As I understand Sheehi, it is a practice of noticing how power shapes our thoughts, and refusing to let it decide what futures are possible. The question underneath it feels familiar: What happens when systems of oppression start to live inside the way I think? How much have I lived true to my vision of an anti-oppressive future? How...
